One Courtyard, Countless stories: The gems of Pingtan's Beigang Village

        en.crzxjx.com | Updated:2023-03-05 | Lin Kongbo, Stephanie

In a small courtyard, spring waltz with the vivacity of life. A stroll along the winding mountain paths of Pingtan's Beigang Village offers a "prelude" to spring and a glimpse of hidden courtyards adorned with vivid blooms-each footstep is a vision of delight. The CPC party secretary of Beigang Village and village committee director, Chen Songbai, revealed ten beautiful courtyards selected by the province burrowed in Beigang Village.

Beigang Village is recognized for its rustic stone houses and distinctive lawns. Reporters from Pingtan CMC visited Beigang Village recently to explore these beautiful courtyards and bask in the pleasures of country life. Lin Shizhong, the owner of Yuehai Tingfeng, a local B&B in Beigang, expressed: "This courtyard has witnessed every little step of my three-year entrepreneurial journey."

Before 2019, Lin worked in Tannan Bay, Pingtan, renting out barbecue equipment. Witnessing the continuous stream of tourists and the rapid development of Pingtan, he had the idea of turning his vacant stone house into a homestay hostel. Thus, Yuehai Tingfeng was born. “Now life is so much better than before, being the boss of your own business. I also get to spend more time with my family," he beamed.

Lin realized that relying on the island's coastal scenery to draw tourists to his B&B is hardly enough to go long-term. He needs to provide his guests with quality stays and thoughtful service. "So, in 2020, I began giving my courtyard a "facelift" to give guests a surprise."

Now, walking through the courtyard, one can see the zebra-crossing-inspired pebble trail, which is quite amusing. The irregular granite fence with graffiti is full of artistic flair, and various potted plants, succulents, and other flowers vie to create a colorful gathering.

"The homestay is located halfway up the mountain. Standing in the courtyard, visitors can see the ancient and time-worn stone houses blended with the breathtaking coastal scenery. So, I placed tables and chairs along the railing, offering visitors a place to unwind and admire the view. The courtyard is surrounded by light strips, adding to the night view. Sitting here, one can smell the fragrance of flowers and plants and enjoy the magnificent scenery," Lin said.

As they say, "Nurture nature's bounty, reap wealth aplenty," Lin's mini yard has won online fame and a legion of loyal customers. " I remember a true "fan and friend" who share the same love for this courtyard. They would send me tea from their hometown, and we keep in touch," he said. Lin often leaves the door of the courtyard open. Random passersby would often stop to marvel at the sight, and Lin would warmly welcome them in to enjoy the scenery, regardless a customer or not.

The story of Lin Shizhong's courtyard is just one example of the many idyllic havens in Beigang Village. With its rustic charm and stunning scenery, Beigang Village is a retreat to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
